Ultimate Nourishment's tips for using your Miracle Stainless Steel Rice Cooker:
- To avoid starchy steam bubbling from the lid while cooking rice, use the vegetable steamer on top of the stainless steel rice pot and then the glass lid on the steamer tray (even if you are not steaming vegetables). Not a drop of starchy steam bubbles while using the steamer tray.
- Brown rice will require more water and a longer cooking time than white rice.
- Short and medium grain rice requires less water than long grain rice.
- A guideline for the water to rice ratio, using the measuring cup that is supplied with the Miracle ME-81 Rice Cooker. (Please Note: the rice cooker measuring cup is not a standard measuring cup but only 6 oz.):
White rice; 1 part rice to 1.75 - 2 parts water.
Short grain brown rice; 1 part rice to 2 parts water.
Long grain brown rice; 1 part rice to 2.25 - 2.5 parts water.
Also noteworthy, when steaming vegetables while cooking rice below, sometimes you may need to increase the water to rice ratio based on the density of the vegetables you are steaming.
- The Miracle Rice Cooker also cooks to perfection other grains in addition to rice, such as Quinoa (pronounced 'keen-wa') Pearl Barley, Buckwheat (Kasha) and Millet.
Quinoa: 1 part Quinoa to 2 - 2.25 parts water
Millet: 1 part Millet to 2.5 parts water
Pearl Barley: 1 part Pearl Barley to 3 parts water
Buckwheat: 1 part Buckwheat to 3 parts water
- Once your Miracle Rice Cooker turns to the 'keep warm' function, lift the lid and stir the rice. This will aid the cooked rice from forming a sticky layer at the bottom while sitting on the keep warm element.
- Do not keep your cooked rice in the Miracle Rice Cooker for longer than 2 hours on the keep warm function. Store cooked rice in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed covered container (using a less tight cover, such as plastic wrap, will leave you with dry, tasteless rice).
- The Miracle Rice Cooker also steams artichokes perfectly! Place a washed artichoke with the stem cut in the stainless inner pot and add water to the number “2” line. Put the empty vegetable steamer tray and the lid on the rice pot and press the lever to "cook". When the water is evaporated, the lever will flip to "warm". Unplug the unit and enjoy a perfectly cooked artichoke. (Note: do not leave the rice cooker on the warm setting after the water is evaporated or you may risk dry burning the inner pot.)
- When using the Miracle Rice Cooker, it is recommended to have the rice cooker pulled out from underneath the kitchen cabinets, which will allow any rising steam to avoid contact with your upper cabinet.
- For cleaning the stainless steel inner cooking bowl, soaking the inner bowl for a couple of hours makes clean up a breeze. Any rice that did stick to the stainless steel inner bowl just washes away after soaking. If one prefers to wash the stainless steel inner pot immediately after using, it will require a small amount of scrubbing. However the scrubbing is made much easier when using a Dobie™ sponge (which can be purchased at your local supermarket in the sponge section). Please note the lid, pot and steamer tray are not recommended to be washed in the dishwasher.
Tips for keeping the Stainless Steel looking new:
- To keep the inside of your rice cooker shiny and new, make a paste with baking soda and a small amount of water and buff.
Our customer's Miracle ME81 Rice Cooker thank-you notes:
Dear Julie, Thank you for such a lengthy and detailed response to my question! I used the cooker for the first time last night and it's really terrific. My short grain brown rice came out just the way I like it at two parts water to one part rice. I think that the timer will work, too, so I plan to give it a shot shortly. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my e-mail in such a friendly spirit. Best wishes, Jason
I was searching for a stainless steal rice-cooker, and with my talking computer did a search! Many sites claimed to have a stainless steal one, and with further investigation, and much time I read that they had the other thing that I was avoiding , non-stick toxic Teflon. So my search continued until I found this awesome healthy site! Due to sight-loss and my screen-readers inability to read the phone number on this site, I sent a message via e-mail. I was amazed how quickly Julie called me back. I sent the message, and then walked into the other room when the phone rang. So when they say that they are helpful, I agree. Julie walked me through the descriptions, and helped me place my order. I have done allot of business on the web, and I have to say that this one was the easiest, and most friendly. Thank you Julie for being you!
Be well

Julie - I was teaching a nutritional class on conventional wisdom when someone asked me about Rice - I knew instantly that I knew very little of Rice - I have studied nutrition for over thirty five years and probably have the equivalent of a doctorate degree in nutrition and the word "Rice" never came up. I spent the next several months diligently studying the many health benifits of rice. Imagine my surprise to find out that over half of the worlds population subsist on Rice, and most of them use a Rice Cooker, at least in America. What I did know however was that Teflon is BAD for your health, which started me on another search - a Non-Teflon Rice Cooker. The Miracle Stainless Steel Rice Cooker ME-81is truly a "Miracle." It is everything that you said it was and more. All I did was put the water, rice, and coconut oil in and turn it on. In an hour I had perfect fluffy Organic Long Grain Brown Rice that was ready to eat. - In your indebtedness - Donald K. Weber D.C.
Our order for the Stainless Steel Rice Cooker arrived...exactly as you informed us! It was packed nicely and the mirror finish on the steel was blinding, hee, hee! We initiated the cooker that night and was pleasantly surprised to hear how "quiet" it was during the cooking process! The rice turned out moist and fluffy! Thanks!

Hi Julie: Loving the rice cooker. Any info on getting additional inner pots and lids? I use it for everything from rice to hot cereal to veggies. Makes great artichokes too.
Have a fabulous day.
